Rick Riordan's "The Throne of Fire," is quite a different book than the last one. In "The Red Pyramid," the villain/antagonist was set, but in this book, the focus is on Apophis. Apophis will be the antagonist for the next and final book as well. The first book was more of an introductory to this Egyptian world, but in this book, you get into much more detail about the specific spells and magics.

Sadie and Carter have to deal with training their trainees in magic, and they have to deal with ancient curses. Carter goes on a quest to find Zia, and this book pulls on your heartstrings more than the previous one. One of the main things I liked about this book was that even though Sadie and Carter are separated and doing their own things during some parts, Riordan still finds a way to make you equally intrigued by the separate plots.

All in all, "The Throne of Fire" is a great in-between for the "Red Pyramid" and "The Serpent's Shadow." I like all the quests and challenges the siblings go through in this one. That is why I rank this book a little higher than the last.

I rate this book 9/10
