In Rick Riordan's "The Red Pyramid", we dive into Egyptian mythology. If you are familiar with Rick Riordan's other series like the Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus series, you will only know about Greek and Roman mythology. I liked this book because I got a taste of different gods and types of magic. Carter and Sadie are siblings who don't start close but by the end, they are inseparable, which was cool for me to see because they are family.
Family values play one of, if not the most important motivating factors in this book. When I was younger, I liked to pretend I had magical powers, and this book has kids/teens learning magic. It is a whole other world that you get to pretend you have a part in, and that makes reading this book exciting and enjoyable. It is a long book but by the end, you wish it was longer.
"The Red Pyramid" has a bunch of parts where you think you know the answer to something, but then they shock you with something completely different. It makes you wonder what you actually know. This sort of twist made me not only like reading this book but also convinced me to read the rest of the series. This book is a great choice for people who like reading about magical abilities and adventures.
I rate this book 8.75/10
