Chris Colfer's "The Enchantress Returns" explores even more fairy tales than there were in Book 1. Alex and Conner want to return to the fairy tale world but they can't get ahold of their grandmother. In my opinion, this is the first time Colfer introduces an actual villain into the series. In the last book, the evil was just competing with the twins for the wish, but in this book, you get to see more of a villain who is actively seeking to cause much harm to many people. One could say that she was an actual villain because she was fine with kidnapping the twins, but that wasn't her main goal.
"The Enchantress Returns" takes the twins on a large journey across the fairy tale world, and you dive deeper into just how expansive this world is. This vastly opened my eyes to the distance across the kingdoms. This book focuses more on Alex's and Conner's mom and her relationships which I thought was a creative and great choice. Another thing I liked about this book was it started to develop Conner's writing skills and his getting recognized for it. There is a huge twist in this book and I never saw it coming, which also makes this book greater. In conclusion, this is another wonderful book, though I don't think it is as good as the first because I like the adventure and mystery in the first more.
I rate this book 7.5/10.
