Chris Colfer's "Beyond the Kingdoms" is a completely different book than the previous three because, for the first time, one of the twins is starting to go on a bad path. Colfer introduces this well by doing a good job writing the events that led to this. This book also reveals essential information about certain characters, which makes the reader excited to learn what comes next. I remember after a certain reveal, my anticipation spiked for what would come next. Colfer also adds a main additional perspective to the story, when previously it had only been Alex and Conner. This perspective lets you know what is happening in the real world while Alex and Conner are in the fairy tale world.

This book focuses on the magical side of the world and how this affects Alex and Conner. However, my favorite part about this book is the flashbacks to important events. These events help answer questions you might have or solve mysteries you have been wondering about. Alex and Conner interact with popular fairy tales, and as a reader, it is neat to see the stories and people you have read about exist. This book does this even more than the previous three, which I didn't think it could.

"Beyond the Kingdoms" in my opinion, is the start of the finale for The Land of Stories. The plots that come from this book go to the very end of the series. The twins must find a way to stand against the Masked Man and his allies. Overall, I think this is my favorite Land of Stories book because of all the mysteries revealed.

I rate this book 9/10
