Chris Colfer's "An Author's Odyssey" dives deep into the mind of Conner. Alex and Conner travel across Conner's stories to find an army to rival the Masked Man's. You get to see more of Charlotte and Bob in this book, which I was glad to see because they haven't been a part of the twins' lives that much recently. This book shows how the people from the fairy tale world interact with those from the story world.
"An Author's Odyssey" brings the twins closer together through many adventures in a short period. There is much humor in this book but also emotional parts, and I think good books have these characteristics. Most of this book takes place in stories, but right after the stories, it is the human world. I appreciated that they made a lot of this book take place in the human world because I missed reading about the drama/stuff that was going on while the twins were in the fairy tale world. I know Bree was in the human world narrating, but it isn't the same.
I think Colfer did a great job of demonstrating the unique way Alex can use her powers; in the previous books, she uses her powers, but not in the way she does in this book. Colfer emphasizes the value of being kind and the value of family in Conner's stories. Overall, I think Colfer did an awesome and creative job telling the adventures of Alex and Conner.
I rate this book 8.75/10
